Standards
Editorial policy
The rules our newsroom works to. This policy is public so readers can hold us to it.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the desk. Commercial relationships, where they exist, never determine whether something is covered or how it is assessed, and any such relationship is disclosed on the page it affects.
Sourcing
We attribute claims to their source and link to primary material where it is public. Where we cannot verify a claim, we either omit it or state plainly that it is unverified.
What we will not publish
- Price predictions, trading signals or investment recommendations.
- Invented statistics, ratings, testimonials or readership figures.
- Unverifiable claims about security, audits or certifications.
- Sponsored material presented as independent editorial.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected in place, and the update date on the article changes. Where a correction is material, we describe what changed at the foot of the article.
Updates to evergreen content
Guides are reviewed on a schedule and carry a visible update date. When practice changes, we revise the guide rather than publishing a duplicate.
Reviews
Reviews follow the published review methodology and carry a methodology and disclosure module. We publish structured review data only where a genuine, evidenced review exists.
Reader safety
Coverage of fraud avoids operational detail that would help an attacker, and prioritises what a reader can do to protect themselves. See our disclaimer.
