Access

Accessibility

We want every reader to be able to use this site, including with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion.

What we target

We build against WCAG 2.2 level AA as a working target. This is a development target for the rebuild, not a certified conformance claim.

What is implemented

  • Semantic landmarks, one main region per page and a skip link.
  • Keyboard operation for menus, dialogs, search, pagination and cookie controls.
  • Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
  • Text and interface colours chosen for AA contrast on our surfaces.
  • Descriptive alternative text on editorial images, and empty alt on decoration.
  • Touch targets sized for comfortable use on small screens.
  • Reduced-motion support: animation is suppressed when your system requests it.
  • Visible dates, authorship and breadcrumbs rather than colour-only cues.

Known limitations

This is a pilot checkpoint. Content migrated later from the previous site may arrive with missing image descriptions or heading gaps; remediating that is part of the migration work rather than an accepted end state.

Reporting a barrier

An accessibility contact route will be published here with the site’s editorial contact details before launch. If you are reading this during the pilot, report barriers through the project owner.
